Susan E. Swanberg, M.A., M.S., J.D., Ph.D., Assistant Professor & Director
Susan E. Swanberg is an assistant professor at the University of Arizona School of Journalism where she teaches introductory reporting, science and environmental journalism and media law. She also conducts research on the history of science journalism.
Maritza Cruz, Consultant & Web Designer
Maritza Cruz graduated summa cum laude from the University of Arizona School of Journalism in 2018. Since then, she has worked as a photojournalist and digital media specialist. She is currently pursuing a M.F.A. in Film and Television Production from the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts where she hopes to refine her visual storytelling skills and bring more diverse stories to the forefront of film and television.
Jessica Hunter, Moderator
Jessica Hunter is a senior at the University of Arizona, and a Tucson native. She is majoring in journalism and minoring in business at the University of Arizona Eller College of Management.
Mia Powell, Assistant Moderator & Graphic Designer
Mia Powell is a junior studying digital journalism with a minor in criminology. She would like to go into investigative journalism and help others while still enjoying her job to the fullest extent. She chose to work as graphic designer because she has always enjoyed art and creating things for others to see. For the flyer, she used bright orange to capture the viewer's attention and showcased each of the panel members and their professions to give viewers a better understanding of the main topic. She enjoyed creating the flyer to advertise all the hard work the class put into the panel.
Hannah Cree, Chief Copy Editor
Hannah Cree is a junior studying journalism at the University of Arizona. She is also working on a minor in environmental science. Her areas of interest include climate change, politics and social media. In her spare time, she works as a spin instructor for the University of Arizona Rec Center and takes too many pictures of her cat, Fred.

Bree Brettell is a sophomore at the University of Arizona. She is majoring in both psychology and journalism, minoring in religion, and working to support her beloved dog.

Elise Adan is a sophomore at the University of Arizona and originally from Northern California. She is a student in the School of Journalism with an emphasis in broadcast journalism. Also, Ms. Adan is working to obtain a minor in Business Administration through the Eller School of Management.
Jamarye Joiner, Producer
Jamarye Joiner is a junior at the University of Arizona. He is majoring in journalism and minoring in business. He is also an athlete for the university’s football program. Jamarye is a Tucson native and is the first member of his family to attend college.
Allison Fagan, Producer, Programming & Rehearsal Stand In
Allison Fagan is a Tucson native in her sophomore year at the University of Arizona studying journalism and film and television. Currently, Fagan writes for the UA's student run newspaper, The Daily Wildcat, but eventually she aspires to work on documentaries exposing underreported stories.

Jeffrey Roberts is a sophomore majoring in journalism at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. As a Tucson native, Jeffrey enjoys being outdoors and adventuring in the Arizona desert. Jeffrey hopes to report on U.S. foreign affairs.

Megan Ewing is sophomore at the University of Arizona. She is currently pursuing degrees in both journalism and film & television. Megan is actively involved with the Daily Wildcat and Greek Life on campus.

Charles Borla is a junior at the University of Arizona majoring in journalism with a digital specialization. Originally from Oregon, Charles enjoys spending time with friends and family, as well as all things outdoors.

Brendan Jacques, a junior at the University of Arizona, is originally from Connecticut. He is majoring in broadcast journalism and working towards a sports management minor.
Madison Beveridge, Content Producer
Madison Beveridge is a junior at the University of Arizona majoring in journalism with an emphasis is digital journalism. She is a business administration minor and hopes to further her career by combining both journalism and business. For this panel, Madison worked on creating a closing speech that wrapped up the discussion and thanked everyone involved. She chose to work on the concluding paragraph because she felt it was an opportunity to practice public speaking and also highlight the hard work of everyone involved.

Asia Rose DuVernay is a Junior studying Marketing, Journalism and Government & Public Policy. She hopes to pursue a career as a lobbyist for a non-profit organization.
Quinn McVeigh, Biographical Content Producer & Rehearsal Stand In
Quinn McVeigh is a third-year student majoring in Journalism and Environmental Studies. His journalism interests include environmental journalism, health journalism and business journalism. Quinn's favorite media outlets include National Geographic, Psychology Today and VICE and looks to someday go into the type of long-form, investigative journalism these organizations produce.

Geraldine Espinosa is a junior at the University of Arizona majoring in journalism and minoring in Spanish. Espinosa is columnist for the Daily Wildcat newspaper as well as a student assistant for the UArizona social media team.
Jackie Aguilar, Biographical Producer
Jackie Aguilar is a Digital Journalism major and is minoring in Information Science & Society. Aguilar's goal is to work for either CNN or NPR as an editorial researcher, so she can work towards the continuation of sharing the truth to the people of our country. She is motivated by the hard work of the United Farm Workers that her grandpa worked under while Cesar Chavez was protesting and the Black Lives Matter movement. Jackie Aguilar owns two huskies that she enjoys taking on hikes and everywhere else with her!

Javier Lopez is a sophomore majoring in Broadcast Journalism and minoring in Fashion and Consumer Sciences. He is expected to graduate in 2023.
Dalilah Cardenas, Reporter
Dalilah Cardenas is finishing her fourth year at the University of Arizona. She is majoring in Spanish and pursuing a minor in journalism. Her contribution to this panel included formulating meaningful and thought-provoking questions for our guest journalists. She also produced the title of the panel, “COVID Conversations.”
Caitlin Claypool, Assistant & Reporter
Caitlin Claypool is a sophomore majoring in broadcast journalism. She is a born and raised Chicagoan. Having grown up in such a politically active city, she gained a strong interest in politics and current events. She is also passionate about film and photography and hopes to someday combine her interests of news and digital media to become a photojournalist or work on a broadcast news set.
